Obituary

Timothy Joseph O'Connor, age 75, of Oak Lawn, Illinois, passed away on June 27, 2025, peacefully at home with his beloved wife, Janet Martino, in North Fort Myers, Florida.  Together they built a life they loved for 17 years, moving from Chicago to North Fort Myers in retirement.

He was born on January 11, 1950, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, to Owen John and Alice Geraldine (Gerry) O'Connor.  Tim graduated from Brother Rice High School in 1968.  Tim later worked as a journeymen carpenter for Tim O'Connor Builders (his uncle's outfit) and as a car salesmen for various dealerships in the Chicago area.  Tim was an E-1 Private in the U.S. Marine Crop and served in the Vietnam War.

Tim raised his three children with his first wife, Patricia, in Midlothian, Illinois, and were parishioners of St. Christopher's Parish.

He was known for his love of baseball and loyalty to his Chicago Cubs, and being a part of his boys baseball careers.  Most of all he loved to spend time on the golf course.  Golfing with Tim meant leaving the green with fond memories and a greater appreciation for the game.  Proudly leaving his golf legacy, he achieved not one, but two hole-in-one's.  Tim was a frequent member of West Gate Golf, starter at Fountain Hills Golf, and a ranger at Waters Edge Golf Course.

Tim is survived by spouse, Janet Martino; children, Ryan (Michelle), Tara (Mark), Michael (Amy); step-daughter, Cassandra (Heather); grandchildren, McKayla, Oliver, Joshua, Lincoln, Eliot, Josephine, Jolene, Scarlet, Grace, Liam, and Emilyn; siblings, Gerry, Kate (Patrick), Matt (Aggie), and Jean (the late Peter).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen John O'Connor and Alice Geraldine (Gerry) O'Connor; brother, Daniel O'Connor; and step-son, Joseph Van Gampler.

On August 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., (the doors will be opened at 9:30 a.m. for family and friends to visit) a Mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Parish (formerly St. Christophers), 4130 147th Street, Midlothian, Illinois 60445.  This will be followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois 60421.  Please arrive 15 minutes early.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs.

On behalf of Tim's children they would like to thank his wife, Janet Martino and the Veteran's Affairs for their caregiving and support.
