Obituary

Tommie Lee Anderson, affectionately known as “Tall Tom,” of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born on September 9, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, Tommie was the son of Eexie Anderson and Tommie Lee Anderson Sr. As a teenager, he worked at his father's produce company at the Georgia State Farmers Market. He later served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

After college, Tommie began his career with Goodyear in Atlanta as a white-collar, tie-wearing office worker. But the sunshine and open waters fishing of Florida soon called his name. He made the move south, where he traded the office for a life he loved where he became known as a master carpenter, skilled handyman, and avid fisherman.

Tommie loved deep-sea fishing with the Critter Fleet, spending time with people, and sharing a good story. A natural storyteller, he never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He dearly loved his dogs and found his greatest joy in helping others, lending a hand, and sharing what he had with those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Lee Anderson and his sisters, Beverly Reynolds and Jerri Braswell.

Tommie is survived by his brother, Terry Anderson, daughter, Christina Lindler, grandsons, Johnathon Lindler, and Christopher Lindler, along with many family members, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

He will be remembered for his generosity, craftsmanship, storytelling, and kind heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tommie’s memory to Orlando Fisher House.
