Twila Pearl Daugherty of Orange City, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 102 on

September 13, 2026, in DeBary, Florida. Born in Tamarack, Pennsylvania, on March 22, 1924, to

Rachael and Frank Daugherty, Twila was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

She is survived by her eight nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren, and her

many friends.

After graduating from Renovo High School in 1942, Twila went to work as a car repairman

helper in the Pennsylvania Railroad yards in Renovo, PA, one of the women hired as men left to

serve in World War II. At the conclusion of the war, she moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania,

and began a long career with the Bell Telephone Company. Following her retirement in 1984,

she became an avid world traveler and enjoyed many other pursuits. Twila moved permanently

from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, to Orange City, Florida, in 2014 and spent many joyful years living

there.

Throughout her life, Twila was a passionate volunteer with her church, the Daughters of the

American Revolution, the Bell Telephone Pioneers, and AARP. Her faith, strength, humor,

optimism, generosity, and devotion to family and friends were the hallmarks of her life, and she

was much admired and much loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 am on September 27, 2026, at Orange City United
