Dr. Ut Van Tran
Dr. Trần Văn Út , 88, of Apopka, Florida passed away on July 6, 2026. Born in Thu Dau Mot, Vietnam, he was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Trần Văn Viết and Mrs. Trần Thị Phú, and four brothers: Anh Trần Văn Khiêm, Anh Trần Văn Hoà, Anh Trần Văn Cung, and Anh Trần Văn Thận.
Dr. Tran attended medical school in Vietnam, graduating in 1964. That same year he married Xuân Hồng, a marriage lasting 62 years until his death.
Dr. Tran was a member of the Special Forces branch for the Republic of Vietnam Military Forces, reaching the rank of Major Colonel. Later, he was the Medical Director of the hospital in Châu Đốc, Vietnam.
Dr. Tran and his family arrived to the United States in 1979, and eventually made Gainesville, Florida their home for over 20 years. He enjoyed watching Florida Gator football and naturally all of his children graduated from the University of Florida. Dr Tran continued his work as a doctor at the VA Medical Center in Lake City, Florida until he retired in 2007. As a doctor for over 40 years, he helped countless people and received many awards through the course of his career.
Dr. Tran is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Xuân Hồng; three children: Minh Thống (Kim-Uyên), Ashley Hồng Sương (Tùng) and Carolyn Hồng Vân (Kevin); six grandchildren: Megan (Will), Sarah, Emma, Sean, Luke and Drew. Four sisters: Chị Trần thị Chất (Trần Quang Thiệt - deceased), Em Trần Thị Thu Hương (Nguyễn Thúy Thảo - deceased), Em Trần Thị Thu Cúc ((Lê Quang Chất - deceased), Em Trần Thị Thu Ba (Chung Văn Sang); and many nephews and nieces. Dr Tran loved his family fiercely and hugged his grandkids every chance he got. He lived a long full life, was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 1654 N. Semoran Blvd. Orlando, FL 32807.
