Valerie Nanette (Ternes) King departed this earthly life on September 22, 2023 at the age of 85. Valerie was born on September 12, 1936 to Paul Frederick and Patricia O'Reilly Ternes in Detroit, MI.

She attended college at the University of Detroit.

She is preceded in death by her son, Melbourne Paul King, Jr., her parents Paul and Patricia Ternes and sister Bonnie Brennan.

She is survived by her children Kevin King of New Smyrna Beach, Valerie Svantesson (Tobias) of Longwood, FL and Brian King (Margie) of Crossville, TN. She has five grandchildren, Paul King, Ian Svantesson (Mariah), Emma Svantesson, Adam King and Andy King and great grandson, Torsten Svantesson. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Dore and brothers Paul Ternes and Michael Ternes.

Valerie was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished her family. She loved decorating, sewing and creating beautiful art. Everything she touched had her creative inspiration. She also loved to shop and spend time with her family and friends. She loved life and lived it to its fullest. She will be forever missed by all who loved her.

A Celebration of her Life will be scheduled at a later date.
