Victory Vivian Lavigne Driver, 81, of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away on August 30, 2026, surrounded by family and people she loved.

Vivian lived several lifetimes in her 81 years, and she made sure to have fun along the way. She was an entrepreneur, adventurer, world traveler, consummate hostess, loyal friend, devoted mother, sister, and aunt. Most of all, she was unmistakably Viv: independent, stylish, outspoken, generous, and never particularly interested in being told what she could or couldn’t do.

Born on V-J Day—August 14, 1945—in Barre, Vermont, Vivian was given her name to commemorate the historic day. The youngest of eight children born to Andre and Hermeline Poirier Lavigne, she was raised in Saint-Augustin-de-Woburn, Quebec. She lost her parents while she was still young, and her older siblings stepped in to raise her, forging an unshakable bond that would last throughout their lives. They learned early what it meant to take care of one another, and that devotion to family became one of the defining threads of Vivian’s life.

She moved to Florida in 1972 with her first husband, Roger Roy, and there Vivian began one of the most important chapters of her life: raising her daughter, Chantal. For many years, it was just the two of them, with Vivian working hard as a single mother to build a life for her daughter. Those years forged an unbreakable bond between mother and daughter, and they would go on to share countless adventures, travels, celebrations, and chapters of life side by side.

Vivian was never afraid of hard work and reinvented herself several times. She taught English in Canada, owned a tavern in Fort Lauderdale, worked in the hospitality industry in San Diego, and ultimately built a successful construction company in an industry where women were few and far between. Vivian was a force. If something needed to be done, she figured out how to do it.

Viv was known for her style. She could make a tracksuit look elegant, and right up until the end, she was rarely seen without her lipstick and being dressed to the nines. Her homes were beautiful but always filled with people, laughter, food, and the occasional rowdy gathering. Her holiday parties were legendary.

Always the life of the party, Viv had an infectious laugh and a talent for making sure everyone around her was having a good time. If you spent enough time with her, there was a good chance she’d get you inebriated and/or beat you at backgammon, cards, or dice. She loved traveling the world with her second husband, John Driver, and her family, but was equally happy beside the ocean at her home in Daytona Beach Shores.

Vivian loved big and forgave easily. She had an enormous heart and a habit of making room for one more—at her table, in her home, and in her life. When her great-niece Christina needed a home as a baby, Viv opened her doors and welcomed her in, paying forward the love and care her siblings had once given her. Christina remained one of the people who held a special place in Vivian’s heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Thomas Driver, and siblings Roger Lavigne, Doris Blanchette, George Lavigne, Ralph Lavigne, and Jacky Beaudoin.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Chantal Roy (Melissa); brother Guy Lavigne (Sharon); Christina Beaudoin; Tyler Beaudoin (Erin); stepdaughters Maurine Driver and Jane Taylor; grandchildren Molly and Parker Smith; and countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she adored.

Vivian will be laid to rest with her Johnny, a highly decorated war veteran, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Family and friends will gather later this fall to celebrate the remarkable, hilarious, generous, stubborn, and deeply loved woman she was. Details will be announced at a later date.
