Obituary

Viola Lillian (Beretta) D'Orio, 94, of Ocala, Fl, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2016, at the TimberRidge Nursing Home in Ocala.  She was the daughter of the late Peter and Elizabeth Beretta of North Providence, RI, born December 31, 1921.  Her career stretched over many years, mainly in the restaurant business, owning and operating three businesses in RI before relocating to Florida in the late sixties.   Viola is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law:  Valerie and William Duarte of Ocala, FL, and Sheryl and Earl Denton of Ocala, FL, and Hope Valley, RI; 6 grandchildren: Steven (Melissa), Jason, David, and Donna Denton from RI, Sunday Duarte-Mangum from MS, and Schuyler Duarte from ME; and 9 great-grandchildren: Kelsey Sue, Garrett, Matthew and Ryan Denton, from RI; Zachary Denton from Fl, Richard and Isabel Mangum from MS, and Anya and Summer Duarte from ME.  She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Allen of CA. She was preceded in death by her sisters Bella Smith, Rose Imondi, Ethel Stout, Ann Neri, and brothers John Beretta, and Peter Beretta as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by former husbands Andrew Grimes, and Frank D'Orio.

She was known for her feisty spirit, for standing up for what she believed in, and for "doing it her way!"
