IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virgil Clarence
Hoover
October 14, 1931 – January 13, 2026
Virgil Clarence Hoover passed away at the age of 94 on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with family at his side.
He was born in Alliance, Ohio on October 14, 1931, and he grew up in a farming family with three older brothers; half of the barn was for the animals, and the other half was Hoover's Garage. He found his life's calling right there in the garage. After high school, he was drafted to the Army where he traveled to France to serve as a machinist during the Korean War. Upon return, he began an automotive career that soon saw him employed by Henschen Motors in Alliance, Ohio for an owner who recognized that Virgil was honest, hard-working, and good with people; they became lifelong friends. He married Barbara Pasco in 1957, and they started a family that ultimately resulted in three children. The family eventually landed in Orlando, Florida where Virgil lived out the rest of his life. He became an automotive instructor in the 1970's for Mid-Florida Tech, a public vocational school in Orange County, and he would hold that position for the remainder of his working life. His career combined his passions, because he loved everything about being an auto mechanic and he loved everything about being a teacher.
Virgil was a true patriot and faithful servant of God, was very active well into his nineties, and loved his family above all else. He truly believed in working hard and staying humble, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Needless to say, Heaven has gained a wonderful angel.
He was preceded in death by his mother Laura; father Clarence; and three brothers Glen, Bill, and Bob. He is survived by his wife Barbara; children Candi (David), Kim (Marty), and Mark (Katie); grandchildren Karen, Daniel, Rebecca (Emmanuel), Ryan, Ashlie (Nicky), and Kevin; and great-grandchildren Isaiah and Julia.
He will be laid to rest at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
