Virgil E. Lynch, 88, passed away December 23, 2023, in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was born November 12, 1935, in Kittery, Maine to parents James and Freda Lynch.
Virgil retired from the United States Navy as a MCPO (Submarine Service) after 20 years of service. He loved to fly and went on to purchase and operate his own flying service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and beaver trapping. In his home state of Maine, he offered his services and knowledge to guide sportsman in the woods to hunt and fish throughout the woods of Maine and Canada. Virgil loved being outdoors where you could find him riding his ATV or gardening in his beautiful garden. During the winters, he trapped beavers by airplane and snowmobile.
His later years would take him to the Florida Keys and Miami where he owned a dry-cleaning business, and later a flight school and aircraft repair facility in Daytona Beach with his son. When he retired, he went back to Maine, and in his 70's built a log home on Pleasant Pond in Island Falls. In his 80s, he started making beautiful pack baskets.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris Lynch of Ormond Beach, FL, his son and daughter-in-law, James Lynch and Marcy of Ormond Beach, FL, his son and daughter-in-law, Eric Lynch and Rhonda of Daytona Beach, FL and Dyer Brook, Maine, and his daughter and son-in-law, Christine Lantier and William of Centerport, NY. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Will Lantier of Centerport, NY, Olia Lantier of Centerport, NY, Robert Lynch of Daytona Beach, FL, Erica Lynch of Daytona Beach, FL, Brandy Metcalf and her husband Carlos of Ormond Beach, FL, and Brittany Corley and her husband Cody, of Wellington, FL, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Virgil is dearly loved by his family and friends, and he will always be in our hearts and memories.
