Obituary

Virginia “Ginger” Drake, 83, of Ocala, Florida passed away on February 12, 2026, surrounded by family after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Ginger was born on December 4, 1942 to Henry Stoddard and Elizabeth Curtis in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ginger was the President of Evansville Downtown Optimists Club, sat on the board for United Way, volunteered at Hospice of Marion County and the local library, was an avid golfer, bridge player, was part of a gourmet food group, traveled extensively and hosted incredible parties.

She graduated from College of Wooster and soon after secured a job at the Social Security Administration as a benefits examiner. She spent over 30 years advancing her career, and finally retired as the District Manager headquartered in Evansville, Indiana.

Ginger is survived by her partner, Glenn Muller, sister, Margaret Wahl, brothers Robert and Thomas Curtis, daughter, Robyne Fraize, son, John Drake, and grandson Curtis Drake. She was preceded in death by parents Henry Stoddard and Elizabeth Curtis, and husband Bruce Drake.

Two celebrations of life will be held at her home, one for friends and one for close family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Interfaith Emergency Services or Hospice of Marion County.
