Virginia Sue "Ginny" Linsberg (DeaKyne), age 89, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, in Englewood, Florida, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

Ginny’s story began in Elwood, Indiana, where she was born on December 1, 1936. She grew up in Alexandria, Indiana, and graduated from Alexandria High School. During her school years, Ginny was full of vibrant energy—playing the saxophone, cheering on her school as a cheerleader, and proudly participating in Indiana Girls State. It was also during her sophomore year of high school that she began dating the love of her life, Bill. The high school sweethearts were married on May 4, 1957, and celebrated a remarkable 69 years of marriage this past May.

In 1963, Bill and Ginny embarked on a lifetime of entrepreneurial adventures when they opened their first business together, Bill’s Pizza, in Angola, Indiana. This marked the beginning of decades spent working side-by-side as true partners in both business and life.

Ginny created a life full of beautiful traditions, splitting her time between her winter home in Englewood, Florida, and her summer home at Rose Lake in Coldwater, Michigan. She was the ultimate hostess, known for making anyone who walked through her door feel instantly welcome. Kind, thoughtful, and fiercely gentle, Ginny never had a cruel word to say about anyone. Whether you stopped by Marion Street in Englewood or visited her at Rose Lake, you could always count on her signature hospitality and a warm "Happy Hour" prompt at 5 o’clock.

She leaves behind a deep legacy of love. Ginny is survived by her devoted husband, business partner, and best friend, Bill; her children, Mark (Phyllis) Linsberg and Ann (Bob) Couch; her six grandchildren, Kohl (Jennifer), Kallie, Madeline (Tommy), Alexandra, Emma (Jack), and Hollis; and her three great-grandchildren, Odette, Kholt, and Cora. She is also survived by her 97 year old sister, Joan Fletcher, nieces and nephews and so many friends.

She was reunited in heaven by her parents, Hollis and Harriett DeaKyne; her in-laws, Pearl and Henry Linsberg; her brother, James DeaKyne; and many dear friends. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that an abundance of loving family and friends were there as angels to greet her as she passed.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ginny's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
