Virginia Josephine Saunders passed away peacefully at home on August 25th after a long battle with cancer. She was 64 years old.

Virginia was born in Frankfurt, Germany and moved to Florida when she was 12. She lived in the Venica area for over 50 years and was a 1980 graduate of Venice High School, but she never forgot her German roots. Virginia worked for many years as a medical assistant while raising a family and retired from that position in 2020.

Virginia is survived by her twin daughters, Jaclyn Hoskins (Jacob) and Kathlyn Kearney (J.P.), by her mother, Gertraude Lanigan, her brother, Richard Lanigan (Julie), her grandsons Chase, Jack and newborn Luca, and by her partner in life, Ted Marasciulo.

In addition to her family, Virginia had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances from many different backgrounds and walks of life. We will always remember Virginia as a positive, fun loving, and strong-willed person who lived life on her own terms. The courage, humor, dignity and grace with which she faced her illness should be an inspiration to us all.
