Obituary

Vivian Pigott Livingston died April 28, 2024 at the age of 86 in Sarasota, Florida,

where she had lived happily for 29 years. Born on May 7, 1937 in the middle of

the Great Depression in New York City, Vivian was predeceased by her parents,

Harriet Selis and Irving Lantheaume, her two husbands, Edward Pigott and

Elliot Livingston, and her sister Nancy.

She is survived by her four children with Edward: Deborah Hornstra, Elizabeth

Peterson (Stephen), Daniel Pigott (Deborah) and Judith MacIsaac Robertson

(James). She is also survived by five grandchildren—Timothy, Anneliese,

Brendan, Emily and Dylan—and two great-grandchildren, Nora and Claire. She

is also survived by her sister Carole, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and

great-nephews, and lots of dear friends and neighbors.

Vivian was a graduate of Scotch Plains (New Jersey) High School and attended

Rider College in Trenton. She raised her children in Bridgewater and the family

cherished the time they spent down the Jersey shore. Vivian had a successful

career as a real estate agent and stayed friends with many of her colleagues and

clients.

Vivian was proud of her Jewish heritage and spent time as a member of the

Congregation for Humanistic Judaism in Sarasota. She was also proud of her

French heritage and enjoyed visiting Paris. Vivian loved movies, the theatre, the

opera, and concerts; traveling through the US, Canada and Europe; playing

bridge, gin rummy and Mah Jongg; doing crossword puzzles; tending her

garden, visiting the ocean; baseball and politics.

Despite living almost three decades in Sarasota, Vivian always considered herself

a Jersey girl. A service in memory of Vivian's life will be held in New Jersey later

in 2024 near the ocean where she spent many happy times.

Donations in Vivian's honor may be made to the local arts organization of your

choice.
