Obituary

Volie Bishop, 97, of Mims, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2026 in Titusville, Florida, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love and kindness.

Born on March 11th, 1929 in South Irvine, Kentucky, Volie was the daughter of late Hiram and Maddie Metcalf. From an early age, she learned the meaning of love, responsibility, and caring for others. Volie being the oldest of eight children, helped raise her younger brothers and sisters: Elman, Reggie, Delma, Onia, Haggie, (survived by) Locia & youngest Reva. A role that reflected the nurturing and selfless spirit she carried throughout her entire life.

As a young woman, Volie’s life became one of adventure and devotion as she traveled the world alongside her beloved husband of 73 years, Vester Bishop, a decorated military veteran who served during World War II and the Korean War era. Together, they experienced life in many places, building a lifetime of memories while Volie remained a constant source of love and support throughout Vester’s military service.

Volie was a truly kind and gentle soul. She had a special love for animals and found great joy in caring for them. Many credit her and Vester to being the first family of Fox Lake Park (Titusville) as they lived in and maintained the park for many years. She was an incredible cook, a talented gardener, and a gifted painter. Whether she was creating something beautiful on canvas, tending to her garden, or preparing a meal for those she loved, Volie had a way of putting her heart into everything she did.

Above all, Volie loved her family. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness, patience, and gentle nature touched generations. Her love was constant, and simply being in her presence brought a sense of warmth and comfort.

Volie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vester Bishop, and her son-in-law, Keith Frisbee.

She is survived by her children, Kenny Bishop, Deborah (Keith) Frisbee, and Hiram (Carol) Bishop; her grandchildren, Michelle (Douglas) McDaniel, Aaron (Jerry) Frisbee, and Kenny (Rebecca) Bishop; and her great-grandchildren, Colton McDaniel, Ainsley Bishop, and Alana Bishop.

At 97 years old, Volie lived a long and meaningful life filled with family, love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories. Her gentle spirit and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, at the Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home  (2400 S. Washington Ave. Titusville, FL. 32780). The viewing will be at 10:00 am, followed by funeral service at 11:00 am, then a graveside services at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
