Wade Hathaway, 86 passed away on September 23, 2021, in Ponce Inlet, Florida. He is survived by his wife Wanda Hathaway, his daughters, Melony (John) Hall and Heather (Michael) Walker and grandchildren Gavin Hall, Abigail Hall, Shelby Walker and Alexandra Walker. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews that loved and admired him. His nephews and nieces Kevin Hathaway, Christopher Hathaway, Nicholas Hathaway, Emily Patterson, Robert Gerwig, Leah McAbee, John Gerwig , and Jane Gerwig.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bertram and Leola Hathaway, siblings Marjorie Gerwig, Bruce Hathaway, Claudia Riser and nephew Richard Gerwig.
Wade was born on October, 7, 1934 in Worthington, Ohio. He graduated from Dublin High School and studied at The Ohio State University. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Following this he worked for General Accident Insurance for 35 years.
Wade was a great family man and a loving father. He and Wanda celebrated their 63 rd wedding anniversary this year. They enjoyed many happy years with their family in Columbus, Ohio. After their retirement, they spent their time in Florida by the ocean and in Tennessee on Norris Lake. Wade loved the views of the ocean and the mountains. He enjoyed reading and studying the history of the Civil War and World War II.
He was a brave man that survived polio at the age of eighteen. He learned to walk again when the doctors said he never would. Wade was pleasantly surprised he lived such a long and happy life. He was famous for saying "I am still buying green bananas".
