Obituary

Walter Curtis, resident of Ormond Beach, Florida, formerly of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on August 2, 2017 in Ormond Beach, Florida at the age of 77 years.

Walter was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 27, 1940. He was a career restaurateur, who owned, managed and consulted numerous successful businesses, including the original Houligan's. Over the years, he played an active role in the community, volunteering for the Checkered Flag Committee, the Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce and many other organizations. In his youth, Walter marched, taught and judged in the Catholic Youth Organization's drum & bugle corps. He received a Humanitarian Award from the Massachusetts Drum Corps and Music Educators Hall of Fame. He also worked for Boston Edison.

Walter loved the game of golf and the friendships that accompany it. He considered his golfmates and his brothers from the Checkered Flag Committee as part of his family. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Walsh Curtis, and children, Kristen (Michael) Williams, W. Timothy (Vanessa) Curtis, Lauren (Nathan) Ring, and Patrick (Trisha) Curtis. His proudest accomplishment is his family.

Walter will be fondly remembered as "Pa" by his 13 grandchildren: Sean, Connor, Colin, Kyla, Caroline, Collier, Laikyn, Patrick, Emma Kate, Cullen, Kyle, Ryan and Aidan, and by his sisters, Louise Weber and Elizabeth Canty. He will be forever remembered by numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Walter was predeceased by his son, Sean, sisters, Lillian Fennell and Mary Judge, and his parents, Elizabeth and Walter Curtis, Sr.

The celebration of Life will be held on August 8, 2017 at 11 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, with reception to follow.
