Obituary

Dr. Walter Erwin Dunham III "Rusty", 64, of Fort Myers, passed away at his home on May 28, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born September 12, 1955 in Bennington, VT., he was the son of Walter Erwin Dunham II and Gloria Joyce Raynor.

Rusty was a registered pharmacist. He was a graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy, and earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of Florida. He opened and owned the Medicine Shoppe in Lehigh, was the Director of Pharmacy at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, and has worked as the manager of the Pharmacy at Hope Hospice for the past 20 years. Even though he was an industrious businessman, he always put people first.

Rusty was a proud member of D.M.A.T.2 – the Disaster Medical Assistance Team 2. He was deployed to Puerto Rico, Texas, and various other places to assist after hurricanes and storms. Some deployments were rough, but again he put other's medical needs above his own comfort.

Rusty was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife Dori; parents Joyce and Walt Dunham; children Chris (Megan) Dunham, Kelsey (Jared) Granger, Isaiah Dunham, and Dontavis Edwards, and grandchildren Addison and Flynn Granger; brothers Guy Dunham and Kevin (Lisa) Dunham, and sister Serena (Michelle) Dunham; father in law Norm Tates; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Rusty's life will be held in late July. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice, or to Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ft. Myers, FL, in Rusty's name. Additional announcement information is forthcoming from the family. Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, Fort Myers, assisted with arrangements.
