Obituary

Walter Goeckel "Wally", age 81, passed away Tuesday October 26 at his home in Bonita Springs, Fl.

Born on August 8, 1940 to Walter and Marie, he was a 1958 Romulus High School graduate. He married

Carole Maze, built a home in Romulus, Michigan, where they raised their 2 sons, Walter and Richard.

Walter was a die maker by trade, and retired from GM Hydramatic in Ypsilanti. He enjoyed many sports,

including baseball, softball, hunting, boating, golfing, bowling, snow mobile riding and dirt bike riding.

Walter and Carole built a vacation home on Secord Lake in Gladwin, Michigan, where the family spent

many weekends and vacations enjoying the outdoors and making many new friends. After retiring, they

sold their family home in Romulus and moved to their home on Secord Lake. Shortly thereafter, Walter

and Carole became 'snowbirds' and purchased a home in Bonita Springs, where Walter could hone his

golfing skills year round. In 2015 Walter and Carole sold their home on Secord Lake and officially became

a 'one home family', residing in Bonita Springs.

Walter is survived by his wife, his sons Walter of Gladwin, MI. and Richard of Taylor, MI., his sister

Ellen (Ray) Kurnik, three grandchildren, Olivia, Walter Jr., and Brendan, and three great-grandchildren

Thomas, Skyler, and William.
