Obituary

Warren Charles Oatley III, 85, of North Fort Myers passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was born October 15, 1932 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to the late Warren and Agnes (Cegalis) Oatley.

Warren was raised and attended schools in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill Trade School in 1950. He served honorably in the Navy during the Korean War later marrying the first love of his life, the late Eleanor (Sargent) Oatley of 50 years and raised 4 children in Haverhill, and later in Atkinson, NH. He retired from AT& T (formally Western Electric) in North Andover, MA and later in New Jersey, living in Newtown, PA. After retirement he resided in Alfred, ME and Englewood, FL. He spent summer months in Seabrook Beach, NH and Wells Beach, ME before living full-time with his current wife Betty Frank Oatley, the second love of his life, in North Fort Myers, FL. He was a devout Catholic throughout his lifetime. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots. He was a member of the Elks, the American Legion, the Amvets, the VFW and the Moose Lodge, often volunteering his time. He loved boating, fishing, golfing and dancing but the times he enjoyed the most were those spent with his extended family; his wife, children, step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides his wife Betty, with whom he spent eleven wonderful years, he is also survived by his loving children; Cheryl Slaiciunas and husband Stephen of Branford CT., Karen Voishnis and husband Mark of Cape Coral FL., Steven and his wife Andrea of Hampton NH., and Terri Costin of South Berwick, ME. and her companion Dennis Willette; his step-children; Judy Frank of SC., Dawn Frank of ME., Peter and his wife Liz of FL., Joseph and his wife Devon of FL., Donald and his wife Bonnie of ME., Patricia Newell and her partner Louie Mendes of FL., Jane Gagne and her husband David of GA., and Edward of ME. Also 28 grandchildren and step-grandchildren as well as 25 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Ann Joensuu of Seabrook Beach, NH., sister in law Shirley Lovett and husband Jake of GA., Eleanor Welsch and husband Donald of ME., and brother in law James Lawlor and wife Gretchen Shepard of ME., and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Papa will always be our shining star in the evening sky remembered for his love of life, his big heart, his quick wit and sense of humor.

Information pertaining to memorial services at Holy Angels Church in Plaistow, NH are forthcoming. Burial will follow with military honors at Holy Angels' Cemetery, Plaistow, NH.
