Obituary

Wesley R. Jenks, 83 of Mt Dora, FL passed away on 4/23/26. Born in Troy, NY on June 8, 1942, the only son of Wesley Victor Jenks and Elaine Marion Marsh, of Mechanicville, NY. He graduated from Mechanicville High School in 1960, followed by serving 4 yrs in the US AirForce. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Gordon in September 1966. He worked at GE Schenectady, West Virginia Pulp & Paper Company, Saratoga School District, Montgomery Wards, Saratoga Raceway, and NY State Safety Officer at Elmira Psychiatric Center. He began serving as a Pastor at Weston Presbyterian Church, Epworth UMC, Catlin UMC and retried after his longest appointment at Bluff Point UMC in Penn Yan, NY in 2009 within the Central New York Conference. His favorite hobbies included, playing cards with family & friends, golfing, rebuilding computers, camping, traveling, fishing, and playing guitar. Wes is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine (Marsh) & step-father, Joseph Spickler; his father, Wesley & step-mother, Shirl (Pickering); his sister, Marsha (Pfeiffer); and his half-brothers, Richard & Gerald Jenks. Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Gordon); daughter Melanie (Todd) Smeltz of Lykens, PA and a son, Michael (Julie) Jenks of Umatilla, FL, “my other kids”, Jim & Louisa Barss and family (Porter Corners, NY) 3 Grandchildren, Michael Jenks (Allison); Nathaniel Smeltz (Alison) and Sarah Smeltz; 2 great grandchildren, Emmalynn and Davis Jenks; a half-brother, Peter Jenks; half-sisters, Gwen (Ashford); Bonnie (Cleveland); Sue (Burke); Marlene (Van Brocklin); cousin David (Cathy) Marsh and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held for immediate family at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on Monday, May 4, 2026.
