William Frank (Bill) Garrett, 89, passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Bill was born in Daytona Beach, FL, on November 10, 1936, to Robert Ashley and Susie Brantley Garrett.
He was a 1954 graduate of mainland high School where he served on the Annual Staff. After a 2-year service in the U.S. Army, he worked in the food industry, becoming General Manager for Copeland Sausage Co in Alachua, FL. He became Sales Manager for Green Giant/General Mills Co. Meat Division, where he traveled the country, making lifelong friends wherever he went.
Bill was known for his quick wit and for always having a joke or story ready to be told. Many of his stories related to his love of cars and experiences with them.
After retiring from the food industry, he owned and operated a neighborhood Amoco station in Hermitage, TN. He enjoyed helping generations of customers. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman, always ready for the next trip or gathering. He was admired and liked for his strong work ethic and fair treatment of all who knew him.
Bill was predeceased in death by: sons Steve (age 4) and Craig (age 30) and brother Bob Garrett (age 84). He is survived by wife Dean O’Sullivan Garrett, Daytona Beach Shores, FL; son David Garrett (Susan), Springfield, TN; daughter Holly McGahey (Jamie), Gallatin, TN; sister Rachel Molpus, South Daytona, FL; stepdaughter Catherine Coleman, Ormond Beach, FL; loving grandchildren and great grandchildren in TN; step-grandchildren in FL, IL, NC; beloved in-laws and many special nieces and nephews.
As per his request, no services are planned. There will be a private family interment at a later date.
