William Albert Yates Jr 83, was called home on Monday February 23, 2026 in Ocala, Florida.

William “Bill” was born on July 23, 1942, in Providence, RI to William A Yates Sr and Sarah Yates. Bill graduated from Ponaganset High School and Providence College.

Bill retired from the State of Florida as an Inspector in Ocala Florida. He previously served as a Florida Highway Patrol Officer. He loved spending time with friends and family. His lifelong hobby was buy-sell-trade. Bill always had a smile on his face and a “Dad” joke to tell. He will be remembered most as a loving father and grandfather, and a life-long friend to many.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Yates and his parents William and Sarah Yates. Bill is survived by his children, Julie Runion (Bryan), and William “Will” Yates (Pam), his stepchildren Julie, Michael, and Jenny Stepp, his grandchildren, Amber Sotherden, Brandon Yates, Ashley Scott, Carley Yates, Andrew Stepp, Owen Schell, and Jordan Lopez, great grandchildren, Jade and Noah.
