Obituary

William V. Corso "Willie", 88, went home to the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by family and friends.

Willie was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 22, 1934 to Sal and Lucy Corso. After graduating from the New York School of Printing in 1952 he embarked on a long successful career in the newspaper print industry. Willie also served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Cascade and the U.S.S. Yosemite battleship destroyers during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1957.

Willie was an avid sports fan who loved baseball, football, hockey, tennis, and golf. He was a passionate New York Rangers fan and never missed a game. Willie also enjoyed fishing, swimming, and spending time in the ocean and on the beach. He could often be found sitting in his beach chair reading a newspaper and working on his tan.

Willie is survived by his loving spouse of 66 years, Elaine M. Corso, his son William R. Corso and daughter-in-law Jenny L. Corso, his daughter Carolyn Mitchell and son-in-law Mike Mitchell, his grandchildren Jessica M. (Corso) Gow, Lindsey Brush and Jake Mitchell, and his great grandchildren Sawyer W. Gow and Juliette L. Gow.

Services will be held at St. Brendan's Catholic Church, located at 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach, Florida on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 1:00pm. The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
