Reverend William Francis Dodd, 75, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on December 10, 2022. Born on November 15, 1947 in Providence, Rhode Island. William, known as Bill to his loved ones, lived a full and rewarding life of love, service, and achievements. William leaves behind his wife Mary Jane Ellison Dodd and his children Kaelin McNally Dodd Martin, Ryan Thomas Dodd, and son in-law Michael John Martin. He is also survived by his brother James Brian Dodd, sister Merideth Ann Dodd, and grandchildren Sage Keith Sky Hamel, Kai William Martin, and Mila Elizabeth Martin. He is remembered by his step-daughter India Rose Dubose, and step-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl Dodd and Beatrice Adelaid Tenant Dodd.
Bill attended Holy Name Elementary School in Providence, RI. and later pursued philosophy at Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick, RI. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Communication from Boston University MA. For his love of the sport he played baseball, including his years at Boston. He furthered his education by achieving a Masters Business Administration (Summa Cum Laude) from Orlando College in Florida. He graduated and was ordained from Unity School of Christianity in Unity Village, MO.
Throughout his career Bill held various significant roles. He served as Secretary to the Governor of Rhode Island and in the National Guard before joining AAA Clubs of Florida. Through his dedication to the travel and tourism industry he became Director of Public Relations, Lobbyist and Editor of AAA magazine. He received Excellence for Best Regular Column/Editorial and gained national press coverage for his efforts in addressing violence along the interstate in Jacksonville and violence against tourism in Miami. In 1992, Bill led relief efforts for the residents of South Florida following the devastations of hurricane Andrew. He served on numerous boards, including chairman of the Seminole County chamber of Commerce. Bill's commitment to safety led him to become President of the Florida Federation for Safety, He was also a valued member of the Audubon Society.
Reverend Bill served as a Minister of Unity Church in Ocala for several years. His dedication to promoting unity and understanding among people of all faiths and backgrounds was unwavering. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed the outdoors in nature, whether it was boating, fishing or simply being near water with his family. He also loved playing ball or bowling with his brother Jim. Williams remarkable career was marked by numerous achievements and awards, but it was his ability to connect with others and make a positive impact that truly defined him.
