IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill"
Haseltine
January 3, 1942 – February 25, 2025
William (Bill) Haseltine, born on January 3, 1942, in Stoneham, Massachusetts, passed away on February 25, 2025. He was the cherished son of Steven and Millie Haseltine and is survived by his brother, Steve Haseltine and his wife, Lonnie, along with their two daughters and their families.
Bill was a devoted husband to Carol Haseltine, residing in Plantation Oaks, Flagler Beach, Florida. He embraced his role as a stepfather to Kim and Al Miller and took great joy in being "Pappy" to his granddaughter, Sydney Miller, and to their beloved golden retrievers, Auggie and Mason, in Queensbury, New York. Bill often joked that Auggie, weighing in at 100 pounds, had the best seat in the house – sitting on his lap!
He is also survived by his daughter, Dawn Thrall, and two grandchildren, Tyler and Amber Thrall, all of Syracuse, New York.
Bill honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967, with stations in Germany and at Chick Sands Base in England. After his military service, he enjoyed a successful career with Dot Foods in Liverpool, New York, retiring in 2010 as Safety Manager, affectionally called "Safety Bill", and as a driver trainer. He began his career as an over-the-road driver, at Boston Buffalo Express starting in 1967.
A passionate communicator, Bill joined the Toastmasters International while stationed in Germany in 1967. In 2008-2009 he served as a member and president of Toastmasters Empire Statesmen in Syracuse, New York.
In 2013, Bill and Carol purchased their home in Plantation Oaks, where they created countless joyful memories together. He often remarked that this period was the best time of his life, a sentiment reflected in his warm smile that greeted everyone he met. Bill embraced life to the fullest, often seen riding around in his golf cart, aptly named "Just Living the Dream". He relished in participating in Chair Volleyball, loved swimming in the pool, and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub.
Bill Haseltine will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter , and kindness will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Plantation Oaks Clubhouse, 1 Plantation Oaks Blvd., Flagler Beach, FL 32136.
