William Oscar
Mitchell, IV
1965 — 2026
William Oscar Mitchell IV went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22nd, 2026. He was born in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late William Oscar Mitchell III and Ethel Mitchell (Dorosy).
William was a devoted Christian whose faith was the foundation of his life. For most of his adult life, he was an active member of Path Apostolic Church in Titusville, where he worshiped with joy and shared his God-given musical talents. Music was one of William's greatest gifts and passions. A gifted pianist, singer, and songwriter, he found great purpose in praising the Lord through music and blessing others with his talents.
A 1982 graduate of Astronaut High School, William proudly played the trombone in the school band. His love of music remained a lifelong constant. He taught his children to sing contrast harmony as soon as they could talk, and today, all of them sing or play instruments due to his early influence, passion, and example.
William also built a successful career in the textile and uniform services industry, working for UniFirst, Aramark, and G&K Services. His dedication and integrity frequently earned him recognition as a top salesman. Beyond his professional achievements, he will be remembered for his warm heart, kind spirit, and genuine love for people.
William was a history buff who enjoyed reading about American military history and politics and watching films about the same, especially the Civil War. He was particularly fond of Ulysses S. Grant. In his younger years, he was an avid fisherman who enjoyed shore and pier fishing along the Indian River. He also dabbled in spear fishing.
Nothing brought William greater happiness than spending time with his family and friends. He cherished every opportunity to laugh, share stories and visit over a meal, make music, and create lasting memories with those he loved.
William is survived by his son, Daniel Mitchell (Christine); daughters, Emily Nash (Jerrod), Allison Mitchell, and Catherine Mitchell; his beloved grandchildren, Nick, Elliot, Violet, Vivian, and Victor; his sisters, Linda Evans (Hugh), Cheryl Seidel (William), and Lynn Eastman (Michael); his mother-in-law, Phyllis Rye; his brothers- and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will treasure his memory.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Stephanie "Cissy" Mitchell, in 2017; his infant daughter, Olivia Mitchell, in 1990; his father, William Oscar Mitchell III; and his mother, Ethel Mitchell (Dorosy).
William's life was a testimony of faith, love, music, and service. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in the promise that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with those who went before him. His songs, his laughter, his faith, and the love he shared with so many will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
One of his favorite Bible verses was "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:" ~ Deuteronomy 6:4
