William J. Richard Sr. of Burlington, MA and Venice, FL passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2025, with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer.

Bill was born on June 6, 1940, to Harold and Ethel (Machado) Richard, in East Boston, MA. At 15, he met the love of his life, Dottie. They married in May of 1960 and shared nearly 65 years of happy marriage, raising their family of four in Peabody, MA. Theirs was a true love affair and you could often see them out walking together, still holding hands at 84.

Following high school, Bill started his career at Nelcom Tool & Die in Saugus, MA and years later, purchased the business with his partner, where he worked until retirement. Bill served in the Air National Guard and was deployed to Europe in the early 60's. Bill had many hobbies throughout his life and retained lifelong friends from each activity. He and Dottie were active in the figure skating (ice dancing) community for many years and enjoyed boating with their friends at the Lynn Volunteer Yacht Club. Upon retirement, Bill and Dottie spent winters in Venice, FL where they were a vibrant part of the community.

Bill was known as a man that could fix anything and was always ready to lend a hand. An early love of his was cars, from his very first Ford to the fire engine red Mustang convertible he purchased in his later years.

The most important thing that Bill cherished was his family. From family camping trips to ski trips and beach vacations, Bill was happiest spending time with his wife and children and their families.

William is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy (DeGregorio), his children, Carla McMahon and her husband Tim of Duxbury, MA, Karen Ciardi and her husband, Joe of Burlington, MA, William Richard Jr and his wife Sharon of Topsfield, MA, Steven Richard and his wife Amy of Peabody, MA, his grandchildren, Sarah and her husband Chris, Christopher and his wife Erin, Nicholas, Marina, Jeffrey and his wife Julia, Jason, Meghan, Zachary, and his three great-grandchildren.

He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and community, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on a future date from their home in Burlington, MA.
