William Rickey Howard, 74, of Daytona Beach, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Rick was born February 18, 1952 in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was a graduate of Mainland High School in 1970 and served as a proud member of the U.S. Army 1972-1976. He worked for the City of Daytona Beach until retirement. He worked his dream job at the Daytona Speedway, working for the Turkey Rod Run and Spring Car Show, in addition to events held at the speedway. He made many friends at the speedway, talking to anyone who would talk back.

Rick lived a life defined by kindness, hard work, and humor. He was a fighter through life, surviving a double lung transplant and many of life's hardships. He was a car enthusiast all his days, who found joy in being a member of the Daytona Beach Street Rods for over 40 years. Those who knew him will remember him for his love of jokes, cars, and Batman. Cecelia, his purple Camaro, was his pride and joy. Rick and Cindy would often go for long drives for enjoyment.

Rick is survived by his partner in all things Cindy Bohr and four children: Jennifer, Rebecca, Allyson and husband Robert, and Rickey. He was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Christopher, Marissa, Laney, Ethan, Kellan, Landon, and Peyton.  He was maker of sock puppets and Build-a Bears, a builder of Legos, and loved to take the grandkids to the movies and watch them in their activities. He was forever a child at heart, collecting both toys and comics all his adult life. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 620 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, FL. Visitation will be 10:00-12:00 and services at 12:00.  Graveside to follow @ Greenwood Cemetery, 320 White Street, Daytona Beach, FL.
