William P. Schmidt Sr., 83, of The Villages, FL went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 19, 1942 in Aurora, IL, the son of William and Lillie (Rowoldt) Schmidt. Bill married Judy Whitney in December 1961. Together, they had two sons, the late Bill Schmidt Jr. and Tom Schmidt, and spent many happy years together in Oswego, IL until her passing on June 3, 2007. Bill then married Sally (Morgan) Schmidt and they spent their retired years together in The Villages, FL until her passing in 2024.
William (Bill) worked hard his whole life. He started his own shop, B&B Machining, out of his backyard garage, and grew it into a successful machining business in Aurora, IL that is now owned and operated by his son, daughter-in-law and oldest grandson. He was a member and faithful servant of Christ for many years at Central Bible Church in Aurora, IL, and later at Tri County Baptist Church in Lady Lake, FL. Bill loved going on cruises, taking his family out for lunch on Sundays, playing water volleyball and spending time with his grandchildren, who are now grown. He is deeply missed by his family and friends.William is survived by his brother Kenny Schmidt of Sebring, FL; his sister Joyce Little of Blue Mountain, MS; his son, Thomas (Ruth) Schmidt of Yorkville, IL; his daughter-in-law Connie (Bill) Schmidt of Oswego, IL; five adult grandchildren, Matthew (Mary Anne) Schmidt of Oswego, IL, Alyson (Aaron) Laughlin of Batavia, IL, Rachel (Isaac) Wixon of St. Joseph, MO, Jakob (Kendra) Schmidt of Katy, TX and Priscila (Hudson) Rothman of Yorkville, IL; and 17 grandchildren, Maggie, Maddux, Marshall, Miles, Maren, Rowan, Hudson, Quinten, Jovan, Nora, Calvin, Johnathan, Meaghan, Austin, Billie, Fox, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillie Schmidt; his wife, Judy Schmidt; his second wife, Sally Schmidt; his son, Bill Schmidt; his brother Henry Schmidt; and sisters Evelyn Sartain and Lois Hollingsworth. Funeral service is still to be determined.
