William T. Spelman

On September 11, 2023, Bill Spelman, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Port Charlotte, Florida.  Bill was originally from Munhall, PA and moved to Port Charlotte in 1989.  He worked for Charlotte County Public Schools for 30 years and retired in 2020.  He was named the Charlotte County Public Schools Support Employee of the Year in 2002.  Bill was a kind soul who loved helping others and telling a good joke.  His greatest joy was being with his children and grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dorothy, daughter Kayla Spelman and her husband Adam Cornett, son David Spelman and his wife Jessica, grandchildren Rayna, Eli, Nora, and a baby boy on the way.  He is also survived by his sister Kathy (Chuck) Jenkins, brothers Bob (Roz) Spelman, Mark (Patti) Spelman, sisters-in-law Debbie Spelman and Janie Boczkowski, and brothers-in-law Bob, Rich, and David Brunn plus many nieces and nephews.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Hazel Spelman, brother Jack Spelman, in-laws Hank and Jen Brunn, and nephew Michael Brunn.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at the family's home in Port Charlotte on Saturday, September 30 ^th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charlotte Local Education Foundation at charlotteschoolfoundation.org.
