William "Bill" Edward Stewart, Jr, 80, of Ocala, Florida, husband of Linda Billington Stewart, died Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Born in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late William E. Stewart and Betty Jane Hartman Stewart. Bill attended the University of Missouri-Rolla, earning a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and PhD. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1968. Bill worked at the Boeing Company in Wichita, KS and Black & Veatch in Kansas City, MO before becoming a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Teaching and performing research in heat transfer, Dr. Stewart published several technical journal papers. Bill had a passion for hunting, wildlife, elephants and mules. Retiring in 2005, Bill was able to complete 20 safaris in Africa. He wrote two books, "Hunting Africa's Dangerous Game" and "Elephant and Elephant Guns" and enjoyed leather crafts, making wallets, belts and other small items.
Bill and his wife of 58 years moved to Ocala in 2015. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Stephanie Stewart (Michael) Griffin of Spring Hill, KS; son, William Edward Stewart III (Karen Mansfield) of Palm City, FL; and grandsons Carson Billington Stewart and Colton William Stewart.
