Obituary

William H. "Bill" Woodard, 69, of Edgewater died peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2011 with his wife by his side.  Bill is a native Floridian born February 5, 1942 in Ojus, FL which is now called North Miami.  He moved to New Smyrna Beach with his family when he was 17 years old.  Bill graduated from New Smyrna Beach High.  While in school he was a disc jockey for the local radio station WSBB where they still play the "Oldies, but Goodies".  After high school he joined United States Navy and then went on to receive his Associate's Degree from Daytona Beach Community College.  Bill married the love of his life, Phyllis Ann in 1964 and they settled in New Smyrna Beach to raise their children.   Bill was a true outdoors man.  He loved to travel, kayak, bike ride, and most of all be on the water with his family on their sailboat.  Bill was an avid reader and could always be found with a good book by his side.  He was known thoughout his family and friends as the "Family Cook".  His receipes will be passed down for years to come.  After retirement from the Eddy Corporation he volunteered his time at the Edgewater Public Library.  Another fond quality of Bill's was his artwork.  His legacy will be treasured for generations.  Bill is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Phyllis; two devoted sons, Jason and his wife, Tricia and Sean and his wife, Adrienne; four cherished grandchildren.    In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Halifax Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, SE Volusia Care Center, 4140 S. Ridgewood Avenue, Edgewater, FL 32132 Private Family Services will be held.
