Wilma Mae (Wiswell) Turner's Obituary

Wilma Mae (Wiswell) Turner 1929 – 2019

Wilma Turner, age 89, passed away peacefully at the Brandley House Hospice Facility in Summerfield, Florida, surrounded by friends on Saturday, February 9, 2019.

Wilma, the youngest of three children in her family, was born June 13, 1929. She is a 1947 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School; a member of the National Honor Society; a long-time member of the Columbus Chorus of Sweet Adelines; and a lifetime member of the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society. She was an accomplished quilter with the ribbons to prove it and a founding member of the Woods & Lakes four o'clock 'Wine Time.' Wilma never knew a stranger and was a spitfire notable for the masterful way she managed every situation as the obvious person in charge.

Her career in the grocery business scanned decades.  She started out working at her father's Red & White Store, "Wiswell's Market," at the age of twelve. After 20 years her father retired, so she went to work with her brother, Bill, at the Wetherell Dairy Store, eventually ending up at the Great Eastern Big Bear Store in Whitehall, Ohio.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and mother-in-law. She will be deeply missed by those left behind. Wilma is preceded in death by her parents Garry and Maude Wiswell, siblings William Wiswell and Mary Ann Huntwork.

Wilma is survived by her loving husband for the last seventy years, Jack; daughters, Jeannine (Tom Ressler) and Mary (Doug) Stoots; her dedicated son Tom, who was her primary caregiver; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Brandley House Hospice facility for their tender and loving care. Wilma's family will celebrate her life with friends and extended family on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Groveport Town Hall 648 Main Street Groveport, Ohio 43125 in the second floor Ballroom from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Parking is available on the street and next door at the Ace Hardware Store.

Donations may be made in Wilma's name to either the Brandley House Hospice Facility at 17395 SE 109th Terrace Rd, Summerfield, FL 34491 or the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society, PO Box 144, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068.
