Zola R. Cavanaugh, 64, of Casselberry, Florida passed away January 11, 2017 at South Seminole Hospital, Longwood, Florida. She was born in Washington, D.C. to Donald Earle and Elizabeth Fowler Russell. Zola grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Evansville, she became a registered nurse. Zola began her nursing career at a hospital in Evansville, before moving to New Orleans for a few years. She then moved to Central Florida in 1980, working as a visiting nurse. Later in her career, she inspected nursing homes and assisted living facilities for the state of Florida. Zola worked hard to ensure nursing home residents received the care, dignity, and respect they deserved. A parishioner at St. Augustine Catholic Church, in Casselberry, Florida, her faith and ministry to others would guide much of what she did in life. She also enjoyed traveling the world with her mother and her husband.

Zola is survived by her husband Patrick Michael Cavanaugh, son Charles Monroe Whitmore IV, daughter-in-law Megan Helmer Whitmore, and grandson Charles Monroe Whitmore V. Zola is also survived by her brother Thomas Arthur Russell and his wife Anne Elizabeth H. Russell of Franklin, TN, nephew Thomas Donald Russell and his wife Stacey Campbell Russell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Casselberry, Florida. Flowers can be sent to St. Augustine (375 N.
